Stars Of “The Raid” Movies Rumoured For New Star Wars

Star Wars fans may have an even bigger reason to be excited for the next instalment in the Star Wars franchise.

I just read a short-but-sweet article from TwitchFilm that the stars of Gareth Evans Indonesian martial-arts masterpieces, The Raid and The Raid 2: Berandal may appear in Star Wars Episode 7 – The Force Awakens .

Founder of TwitchFilm Todd Brown is also a partner in XYZFilms – the production company that backed both Raid movies (among many other greats), so if there was any truth to the rumours, then no doubt, Twitch is the best place to look.

Iko Uwais (Rama), Yayan Ruhian (Mad-Dog), Cep Arif Rahman (The Assassin) have all been rumoured to have been eyed up by Abrams for some serious ass-kicking in the new Star Wars movie. What the part is, no one has any clue – I have checked all Twitter accounts for some information but nobody has said anything as of yet.

Excited much?

RAID REDEMPTION REMAKE PUT ON HOLD UNTIL 2015

THE RAID: REDEMPTION remake has been put on hold until 2015.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the news when I first heard it, but a remake is no doubt inevitable and it comes after such a short time after the release of the original Indonesian classic, WTF? It just keeps proving my point that Hollywood doesn’t have an ounce of originality left.

Some rumours have surfaced about the casting and the short-list apparently is Ethan Hawke, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo and Luke Evans.

Fuck that !!! What in gods name is Ethan Hawke gonna do in THE RAID remake? I can’t imagine Ethan Hawke administering the round house kicks to the same level as the talented Iko Uwais.

They could change the story which I’m pretty sure they will. Take out the martial arts and replace it with guns and muscle.

Not impressed though… Not impressed at all.

I doubt many people would be…..SIGH!

MY THOUGHTS ON THE RAID REMAKE

I remember reading about the first installment of The Expendables and thinking “this is the best action ensemble that’s ever been created, there is no possibility that’s this could ever be bad”.
Then Stallone made me feel more at ease by saying “you can expect rivers of gore, necks snapping like bread sticks”.
THEN HE WENT AND RATED THE THING 15, SO YOU COULD TAKE YOUR KIDS TO THE CINEMA. I mean, that’s not very action packed is it?.

I feel very strongly about this, If you claim to have the best action movie of all time, do you not think it would disappoint nearly everyone if that movie was rated so you could take your kids with you to the cinema to watch it?.
Then we got inevitable sequels which were no improvement on the first instalment.

So now we have Patrick Hughes of the expendable 3 whowill be directing the raid remake with a guy called Brad Ingelsby writing the screenplay

(Ingelsby will also write the screenplay for English remake for superior action french thriller “point blank”).

The raid delivered so well because of its simplicity. The story-line was so simple yet executed in a such a way that it would be impossible for it not to grab your attention. The talented Gareth Evans has found himself an all new action hero in leading man Iko Uwais. The fight scenes were choreographed beautifully and it looked and felt like what an action movie should be.
There is no point in a remake. How can you improve on perfection?

As for Gareth Evans involvement with the project. He will serve as executive producer and has been quoted saying that he has some creative input if needs be. He seems to have a lot of faith in screenwriter Brad Ingelsby, so we’re just gonna have to wait and see what its going to turn out like. maybe they will take the action out of the building and give it a new lease of life. Replacing fine choreographed fight scenes with muscle and ego. the bottom line is, its too early to pass any sort of judgement.

V/H/S 2

Although, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first movie, it still had some pretty rocking moments, but overall the good outweighed the bad. So now we get the pleasure of a bigger and badder sequel featuring directors, Gareth Evans ( the raid ), Jason Eisner (hobo with a shogun), timo tjahjanto (killers, macabre, dara),Eduardo Sanchez (Blair witch , lovely Molly) Simon Barrett ( producer, Blair witch, Blair witch 2, lovely Molly)
This time round they’ve changed the storyline a bit, its about a group of people who stumble across a abandoned house when they are searching for a missing teen. In this house house they find the infamous video tapes and each tape contains a different gruesome story.
A lot of people have seen this film already, but being from fucking backwards Ireland, I’m gonna have to wait a little longer. Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing it has had nothing but greatness to say about it.
So Bring it on….now please!!!!

KILLERS

Currently still in production. “Killers” is the story of two serial killers, one who has a huge online following, and the other who is a copycat murderer . The copycat murderer is starting to steal the limelight from our main guy , which leaves him no other choice than to travel from Japan to Indonesia and hunt him down, kill him, and earn back his respect. The premise of this film sounds brilliant, people who enjoy a really good serial killer movie like “I saw the devil”, and like their films a little fucked up and disturbing are going to be left speechless as this film is gonna give us two serial killers, and two directors who aren’t scared of going for the jugular and leaving us feeling uneasy.
I know for a fact this film is gonna be insane. From the writers ( mo brothers) of the demented serial killer film “coldfish” and the extremely disturbing and blood soaked fucked up family movie “macabre”, and financially backed by “merantau pictures” which is owned by “Gareth Evans” the writer and director of ” the raid”. Release date TBC
